Using a very special form of hypnotherapy, most problems can usually be resolved in just a few hours of treatment. We offer expert assistance using hypnosis and a variety of techniques proven to help you; as a UK Harley Street practice we adhere to very strict codes of conduct and treat all our clients with the utmost respect and privacy, including those with a high public profile. A treatment may only need to consist of one session – or a short course of treatment may be required. For example, weight loss hypnosis could involve a simple change of habits; or may require looking at the underlying issues. All this is obvious at the first session, so whatever your reason for inquiring, you can relax and we will take care of it for you. We will help you assess what you need.
Did you know…Many people believe that hypnotism is about planting ideas or suggestions into the subconscious mind, to which the person or subject then responds automatically.
This is what appears to be happening on stage shows and the like, where it is made to look as if the hypnotist has control over the subject by putting them to sleep and controlling their subconscious mind.
This is really the phenomenon of hypnotic suggestion, but actually has nothing to do with sleep or control. The phrase ‘hypnotism’ was coined by a Scottish surgeon named James Braid, born in 1795, and he was referring to the phenomena of neural-hypnosis – “Sleep of the nerves”, as it appeared that the body seemed to rest deeply or go to sleep.
The phrase became shortened and misinterpreted to Hypnotism or Hypnosis, and people began to think that people were actually ‘put to sleep’, when they are actually just very relaxed, but still very aware.
James Braid tried to remedy this by renaming the phenomenon “Monoidism” – meaning focusing on one idea, but the name and reality was a little dull compared to the mystique of Hypnotism and so the popular press at the time ignored the truth went with what was most dramatic and news worthy – nothing new there!
